Monitoring
RSUG personnel use tools such as nefu
to monitor core ITD services. Real-time notification is available via
text paging,
email, finger, and
HTTP.
Reports are generated automatically and distributed with an eye to spotting
outage and slowdown patterns, planning for hardware upgrades and producing
budget requests.
"4-HELP," the
Campus Computing Assistance
Hotline, uses UMCE monitoring to keep users informed on the status of
outages.
UMCE nefu servers are mutually monitoring.
