MacKerberos - a kerberos authentication client for the Macintosh environment.

MacKerberos is the suite of system components required for secure network connections using Kerberos IV. The suite consists of AuthMan, KClientMan and AuthMan UAM.

Uses
Allows users access to their IFS accounts from campus and home using IFS via netatalk.
Provides Kerberos support for applications, including Mulberry and NiftyTelnet. NCSA Telnet and BetterTelnet are also supported with the addition of the AuthMan Telnet Plugin.

Eligibility
The MacKerberos suite is downloadable free of charge. It is also included in the "Blue Disk" CD, which is a collection of software and drivers recommended for U of M dialup access. The "Blue Disk" is available for purchase at U of M Computer Showcase.

Features
Settings can be locked to prevent unauthorized changes.
0 minute idle time setting allows users to get a one-time-use ticket.
Authenticate at Startup feature prevents unauthorized users from logging into machines.
MacKerberos supports multiple-realm, multiple user authentication.

Authenticated Printing is a kerberized printing extension for MacOS. It supports LaserWriter 8 drivers through version 8.5.1.

Known Bugs and Incompatibilities
System 8.0 crashes at startup.
AuthMan crashes when toggling between realms at startup. Installation of System 8.1 fixes this bug.

The source code for the MacKerberos suite is available to anyone for modification or implementation in their own applications. If any changes are made, please share the information with us.
